Make sure when doing this, you watch your IPv6 vs IPv4 setup, as you may serve the wrong data depending.. Just make sure whatever generates your config, be it a script or human does it right, eg:

puck# /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -S
VirtualHost configuration:
[2001:418:3f4::5]:80   is a NameVirtualHost
         default server puck.nether.net (/usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:1051)
         port 80 namevhost puck.nether.net (/usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:1051)
         port 80 namevhost lolras.net (/usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:1134)
204.42.254.5:80        is a NameVirtualHost
         default server puck.nether.net (/usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:1051)
         port 80 namevhost puck.nether.net (/usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:1051)
