Christian,
Are you experiencing any microburst? What is the egress or NNI link?

Subject: [c-nsp] OutDiscards (ME3600X)

Hi list,

although I'am only seeing a load of ~ 0.2 - 1 Mbps on a 100Mb-link of a
ME3600X,
it's showing some hundred OutDiscards all 1-5 minutes.

#sh int g0/3 count err
Port Align-Err FCS-Err Xmit-Err Rcv-Err UnderSize
 OutDiscards
Gi0/3 0 0 0 0
0
        434

#sh int g0/3 | i CRC|rate|media|queue
  Full-duplex, 100Mb/s, media type is T
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops:
434
  Queueing strategy: fifo
  Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)
  30 second input rate 49000 bits/sec, 33 packets/sec
  30 second output rate 119000 bits/sec, 35 packets/sec
     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

It seems that this changes if I configure a policy-map with a
class-default
and a queue-limit with a maximum configured size of 491520 Bytes.

policy-map foo
 class class-default
 queue-limit 491520 bytes
!
int g0/3
 service-policy output foo
!

I'am confused and feel really uncertain about this... :-(

Some enlightenment please!

Christian
