Can't answer that bit, sorry.  (It might work, and fall back to "3B" 
capabilities - but very likely TAC will tell you "this is unsupported",
and quite likely, IOS will just crash).

If you have multiple routers anyway, I'd just move half the routers
to dual-RSP720 and the Sup720-3B that are no longer in use there can be
used in the other half for dual-Sup720-3B setups...

On a 6500/7600 with (supported - see above :) ) dual supervisors, all
ports can be used.
