Agree, I don't think any of the neutral parties care about vendor selection.
 They are more concerned with the technologies themselves for the most part.

In practice I don't think I've ever seen a completely homogenous network.  I
think anyone designing a SP style network of significant size should at
least consider a multi-vendor solution.  Each vendor has it's strengths and
weaknesses.  There's also the difference in price to consider.  I think that
the popularity of cisco and their various products is a bit of a hinderance
to progress.
