This is assuming your upstream are willing to spare you a 
couple of chunks of their space for your own customer use, 
even when they may be pressed into a corner at that point in 
time.

Well, you've obviously considered the risks with going this 
method, so you certainly know what you're doing. And I think 
we should expect a similar trend like this among other ISP's 
the world over, as IPv4 becomes more and more scarce.

But the day your upstreams are unable to offer you anymore 
IPv4 addresses, your only choice will be to turn-up 
customers using IPv6. This is where you'll need to look at 
NAT(64) to allow your IPv6-only customers to access IPv4-
only networks on the Internet. Sadly, there's no workaround 
for this.
