A 12008/40 shouldn't be the base of *any* long term solution. After
all it's End-of-Everything since more than two years (February 28,

Seriously, go for a modern platform now. That would be ASR1k or ASR9k
if you would like to buy Cisco.

If you thought about upgrading the 12008 to XR, it's not supported.
