Can you not put a prp2 in this chassis?

A 12008/40 shouldn't be the base of *any* long term solution. After
all it's End-of-Everything since more than two years (February 28,
2010): http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps167/prod_end-of-life_notice09186a00801fc894.html

Seriously, go for a modern platform now. That would be ASR1k or ASR9k
if you would like to buy Cisco.

If you thought about upgrading the 12008 to XR, it's not supported.
