I think the Hw isnt a problem - its usually a slightly different PCB layout,
new ASIC, different capacitors etc. if there was a hardware fault then
that would be VERY interesting for customers with the affected Hw.
however, the Fw can be an issue - especially with regards to inter-op and bugs - I would advise
upgrading that linecard to the latest release (if you have access!)

the first link tells you how to perform the upgrade...its minor and not too problematic
