you can check out the session BRKSPG-2207 (Redundancy Mechanisms for
Carrier Ethernet and Layer 2 VPN Services) on ciscolive.com which provides
a good overview of the approaches for CE/L2VPN redundancy.
L3 is straight-forward, as you said. make sure you use unique RDs for your
L3VPN VRFs, and check out session BRKIPM-2265 to provide scalable BGP
routing convergence..
