Ok thanks.
Well, my thought was since I can run XR code in a non-cisco hardware environment (virtual machine running windows 7 running virtual box imported into GNS3) … then heck, why not try to run an ova in there somewhere too and emulate vsm-500 cgnat type functions ! J
Seems doable to me with all that other virtual magic going on … it’s like who cares about real hardware anymore , lol
Something tells me someone is sitting somewhere coding up a solution for it and it’s only a matter of time…
Merry Christmas to all

Aaron, if I am not mistaken, CGNAT on ASR9K is implemented on a special line card, so it's not really a native ios xr feature... I don't believe the software would be enough.
It might work with ios-xe...

I'm successfully running a few XRv routers in my GNS3 environment.
Is it possible for me to run a CGN ova inside that XRv router in GNS3 also ?
Is it possible to just copy the asr9k-vsm-cgv6-5.3.1.02.ova into that XRv
router somehow and run CGN ?
