Never had to.

The only reason you'd need to is if you need a firmware update in order
for a SPA to be recognized. But given how new the ASR1002-X is and how
old the 10Gbps SPA is, I doubt you'd need that.

You'd probably need to reload a SPA-supporting PLIM on a CRS or ASR9000
chassis in case it has just been newly released and is still working its
way up the SPA chain, on the back of an FPD update.

But other than that, no, you shouldn't need to reload the router to get
this card recognized.
