Hi,
Well I think the CAR that ships with the CM, is quite good enough for most
companies and covers the need of seeing who has called where and for how
long. Furthermore, you see statistics about utilization of gateways and
quality. What I think the tool lacks the ability to configure certain
parameters to fit the organization and the location of the company. But as
Mr Scott Voll wrote, the CDR database is not that complex and I think that
one could implement this configurability with relativly small efforts.

As usually Cisco will recommend the most expensive solutions. A trademark ;)
One may look at IPSoft billing package that has all the needed features and
has a special module for extracting the CDR from CM. A lot of other
non-expensive billing packages exist that interact with CM.
