Hi Michael,
Trace error is not very useful for this type of issue. Detailed will
show all messages and then q931translator.exe will help you parse the
h323 messages between the clusters out of the traces. After that
notepad is your friend :)
As for the ICT not working and then trace configuration not taking
effect; both these could be symptoms of change notification being
broken. change notification (cn) is what causes the changes you make
in /ccmadmin to affect the real-time running ccm.exe process. If cn
really is broken, there are 2 steps to get it back:
1. restart the cisco database layer monitor service - no process to call
processing. Then go and click "update" on your route pattern and newly
created trunk. This will re-send the message to CM to insert these real
time. If it still does not work goto #2
2. restart cisco database layer monitor and ccm.exe. CCM.exe is
responsible for initiating the connection to database layer monitor and
tell dblm "i am interested in these updates". In this case, when
ccm.exe starts up, it will read the new device and route patter directly
out of the database so cn is not involved at all. If it still does not
work, then the problem is the configuration.
For ICT configuratoin, keep in mind that all servers in cluster1 need to
know about all servers in cluster2. In the Trunk config page make sure
to define as many call processing servers in the remote cluster as
possible. Then do the same on the remote cluster. This how ccm.exe
matches the incoming h323/h225 call setup message: Match the source IP
to the IP of a device, then use the CSS of that device to determine what
destinations with in the cluster that calling device is allowed to reach.
