is a "loopback" what you are trying to do?
one port of the cisco to be cross-connected with the other one ?
in this case, you should make sure the cable pinout is correct ?
are the E1s up ?

I have a as5350 cisco gw. It has 4 E1s, two of them are not used. To work IP-to-IP I want to connect 2 E1s each other...
