Recommended Physical Placement of Unity ServerIn our experience with Unity, it is very finicky with respect to communications outages with the Exchange store. The close you can get the Unity server to the exchange store the better. The same switch would be ideal. Unity registers to Call Manager like a phone, using the TSP, so in all respects if Unity looses connectivity to the Call Manager, it goes to it's backup. Re-registering Unity ports is quick and almost unnoticeable.

Subject: [cisco-voip] Recommended Physical Placement of Unity Server

We have two physical locations for our VoIP hardware and our data hardware. We're about to install Unity, but was not quite sure where I should place the physical server. Should I place it in our VoIP room where the CallManagers are located or in our data room where our Exchange servers are located? Please advise on what you recommend and why. Thanks.
