[cisco-voip] RE:4.1.2 to 3

Plan way ahead and work really bad hours. But that doesn't happen much.
The 3.3 to 4.1 was the only one that really has taken more then
~1.5hours. I just do a couple of updates during each window. Ie. BARS
one week, SR one week, OSes one week, etc.

Ouch. How do you do most updates/upgrades then?

I only have a 1.5 hour window to do this on a pub and a sub. Do you
think I can get it done in that time?

it's a 685MB file which takes a while to decompress. There was one
reboot almost immediately after the install started, then i think only
one more after the install was done. I can't remember the time it took,
i left the box for a while.

Make sure you have ample free space, at least 4GB.

I just did a new install to 4.1.2 and then to .3 and it went
fine. I
just hit the exe and away it went. I'm just starting to program
my
pieces and I haven't had any problems.... yet. LOL.

Anyone upgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.1.3 yet? The PDF attached is
really
designed for 4.0 and 3.3 to 4.1 so I'm looking for a better doc.
Do I

AFAIK, cisco does not publicly release such specs. I had a
customer
trying to do fax broadcasting with a AS5400-HPX about year and a
half
        ago.
You might find something in the cisco-nas archive around Aug
2003...but
off the top of my head, I think we got up to somewhere around
150
simultaneous outgoing faxes, but that was with the box doing
absolutely
nothing else (other than the occasional crash), dedicating all
its CPU
        to
faxing. I wouldn't expect it to do reasonable VOIP quality with
        anywhere
near that number of faxes going on at the same time.

There has been lengthy discussion on this list regarding the
issues of
faxing vs. ATAs. I have no first hand experience yet (coming
soon), but
AFAIK it should work with skinny as long as you tweak the ATA
correctly.
You have to set at least one bit mask in the device so it
forcibly talks
G.711u/a. I've tested this only briefly and against a CCM, but
CCME is
        on the agenda.

        > Have anyone tried registering CME DN's with a GK ?

Yes, works out of the box. If subscribed to a GK CCME registers
all its
EPhone-DNs at the GK. Together with a RAS dialpeer you can
easily
        distri-
bute DNs dynamically over a cloud of CCMEs and dial to every of
them,
        the
closesed thing to dynamic call routig I've found so far.

        > and also registering ATA's with a GK ?

With Skinny they are just ephones so it works out of the box. I
don't
know how they would register in H.323 mode, though - they should
        register
themselves then, needing correct config for it, if that's at all
        possible.

        > I've created Service Provider setup's with ATA's running SIP.
But in
        > this scenario it looks like H.323 would be the right choice
for the
        CME
        > solution.

Only if you absolutely don't get it running with Skinny. If
there are
any known bugs which reliably prevent this and have no known
and/or
acceptable workarounds, I'd like to know more about them as
well.
Sales dropped in ATAs because they are cheaper than VWIC-*FXS
and I've
got to deal with it :-/

        HTH,
        Andre.

We are looking at putting in Berbee's InformaCast for paging,
has anyone
used this? Looking to get any pro's or con's on it.

        Thanks,
