Hi Eric,
I don't have any input on using third party tools to update Unity
servers. This URL provides the recommended updates and at the bottom
it provides what is supported in terms of applying MS hot fixes and
service releases.

For CCM a third party tool would not be supported. The only supported
MS updates are the ones downloaded from CCO. Applying MS updates
downloaded from Microsoft is not supported on the CCM nor other Cisco
applications that use the CCM OS, ie, CRS, CER, etc. More information
