  The instructions say to remove anything prior to ES6 before installing. 
    Since you are on ES9 that should (and did) raise a red flag and prompt 
  you to ask someone what the deal is.  If you didn't have this list then 
  I assume you'd ask TAC, and get the correct answer.

  In the case that you were already on SR1 and needed a bug fix that was 
  in ES9, the TAC engineer that was giving you the ES should be able to 
  note that since you are on SR1 you have to go to ES16 or later.   
  Anyone with access to the CM ES patches has access (and should know to 
  check) how SRs and ES' correlate.
