[cisco-voip] Inline-Power / PoE: HWIC-D-9ESW-POE and NM-16ESW-PWR

Hello Hans-Peter,

The HWIC cards can supply PoE but also support Cisco's pre-standard inline
power. This is fine for all Cisco phones.

The NM-16ESW is an earlier generation EtherSwitch module supporting only
Cisco's pre-standard inline power. This is fine for most Cisco phones, only
some of the latest GE models require 802.3af PoE.

If you use a new generation NME-16ES-1G-P instead of NM-16ESW to get PoE on
all ports, more powerful switching and an additional 10/100/1000 port.

You might get the warning because you put too many PoE ports into the
chassis. You included the appropriate power supply, which is fine, but the
2811

15f.html#wp9000542> has 160W.

160 / (4 + 8 + 16) results with 5.7 which seems to be less than what is
required by an IP phone, so take care.

Subject: **SPAM** [cisco-voip] Inline-Power / PoE: HWIC-D-9ESW-POE and
NM-16ESW-PWR

just played around with the "dynamic configuration tool"
I configured an 2811 with some inline power stuff.
When it checks the config, it reports some warnings (see below). Why? I
think everything needed is there?!?
Anybody experience with the HWIC-D-9ESW-POE or NM-16ESW-PWR?
Recommendations? Differences?
And maybe somebody can explain the difference between PoE and Inline-Power
in this case?
I think its the same, just want to be sure...

Thanks,
HP

1. Integrated internal inline power supply (such as PWR-28XX-AC-IP) or an
external power supply (such as PWR-CHASSIS-360W) is recommended for the
NM-XXESW-PWR selection made.
2. Power Over Ethernet (POE) requires an AC plus IP system power supply
(such as PWR-28XX-AC-IP).
3. Do you realize you can enable security services like Firewall/IPS, VPN
