[cisco-voip] IOS MGCP question

Actually I would love to contribute right now that is our only way to 
integrate our Audix voicemail into the call manager cluster.  By using 
SMDI over the Async port of the VG248

You are correct the VG248 is not IOS based.  It is completely menu driven 
unfortionatly.  However it does talk Skinny back to call manager so the 
ports all come up and look like phones.  Very little configuration on the 
box itself.

I think you are better off with the VG224's.  They are IOS based and are
basically like configuring a router.  Unless the 248's have changed (I
haven't looked) they are not IOS based and I remember they were a little
more troublesome.  Maybe someone else out there can confirm this and you
will feel better about going this route.

Hey Carlos good to hear from you. We're getting some VG224's in to use
for a few dormitories at a regional campus, hopefully they will work
out OK. I would have rather gone with some 248's and had fewer boxes
to manage, but the 'customer' wants dual connections to all boxes
where possible.
