I'm not familiar with the layout of the Venetian, is there a

that would be not to far away from the opening reception?

There is some free time in the agenda from 6pm to 7pm on Monday,
after
the User Group Meetings but before the Opening reception.
If we met somewhere in the Venetian, Bar, Lounge, etc then I
could come
for awhile. I need to be at the opening reception about 20
minutes
early.
