[cisco-voip] phone rings on hold

This sounds like a classic wiring problem. I bet you have a wire in the
wrong pin on an RJ11 somewhere. Double check.

I had this issue once with an fxs port, puzzled me forever. I had a bad
crimp on an rj11 in the wrong pin (1 I think) which caused it to ring
every time it was on-hook. I bet the ata's are similar to the fxs ports.

But what is strange, is that it just started happening. Interesting..

Good luck

Jesse

Subject: [cisco-voip] phone rings on hold

I am puzzle by this problem. At my fire station I have an ATA186 that
connects to 2 ringers, 2 Linksys switches, and 5 IP Phones 7940 and
7960. all devices connect to the 2 Linksys switches. The problem is
that when a call is placed on hold, and the person picks up the call
from another phone in the building, all the phones will continue to ring
until the phone conversation is complete. This just started last week.
Have anyone experienced this problem before.

Marcus
