[cisco-voip] Inbound caller ID

We're running DMS-100 on similar equipment with no problems. We did however have a problem when trying to dial some 1-800 numbers. It turned out that some switches will not process calls unless they have a valid outbound calling number ID programmed onto the call. We made sure all our route patterns had a valid calling party mask and it fixed things.

Just a thought.

  Subject: [cisco-voip] Inbound caller ID

  Hello all,

We recently had Verizon turn on inbound caller ID name on three PRIs. These are terminated on two WS-X6608 blades in two different 6509 switches.

Normally we run PRI 4ESS as the PRI Protocol Type in the Gateway configuration and it has been this way for over two years.

However we were told by Verizon that the switch is actually running NI2. So I turned on NI2 and sure enough, the Send Calling Name In Facility IE option became available in the inbound caller ID option under "PRI Protocol Type Specific Information". After I checked this option and reset the gateway the caller name started showing up on inbound calls.

However...as an added "benefit", we could no longer make outbound calls. Obviously, this went over real big, so I immediately changed everything back.

Does anyone have any experience with or ideas on this one?

  Thanks,

  Kevin
