I am testing IP Communicator with ASA SSL VPN Client. The IP Comm phone
works fine with calls and voicemails. But I just want to know how to
identify different IP Comm phones. From what I tested, the ASA always
assigns the same MAC to the vpn client no matter of IP. So we can not
use MAC address of the VPN adapter for identification. We can use the
Ethernet MAC of the client computer as the device name. But it looks
like not very secure, because people can configure his/her IP Comm phone
to use other computer's Ethernet MAC when the other IP Comm phone is not
registered. Even we set unique device name to each IP Comm phones(not
using MAC address), it also not very nice. How do you deploy IP
Communicator in your network? Have you tried something to prevent people
changing the device name of IP Communicator easily? Thanks.
