[cisco-voip] Question about phone time.

The bug notes state that it created an ntp.conf.bak, which may have been the
case except that we did a string of upgrades one weekend (4.0(2a) SR2b to
4.1(2) and then applied the SR and devpak) and after that series our
ntp.conf.bak did not contain our original ntp.conf.

It was ok by me, gave me a chance to try some new options in the ntp.conf.
I will open a case and note that we experienced this bug.

can you drop us a TAC case and we will renew interest in CSCsb66270. Please
reference this ID in the notes.

That's interesting. On our CM cluster, NTP is installed by default and the
default NTP configuration instructs the subscribers to sync with the
publisher. Thus the subs should not get out of time sync with the pub.

Now, if you have a sub set to a different time zone, this would probably do
it. Time zones are not considered by NTP.

We have set our NTP configurations to point to an external clock server.
Every time we upgrade CallManager, it wipes out our custom NTP.CONF file and
replaces it with the Cisco default. (Why?)

The problem turned out to be the subscriber CM was running 1 hour ahead.
I kept checking the publisher time; totally forgot about the fact that the
phones are registering to the Subscriber.

Thanks to all for the quick response

I have seen the phone not getting the updated time until the handset was
lifted.

I also noticed that when I went from local time to NTP time the servers
where right away but the phones took some time.... Not sure exact amount of
time though.

I have a problem with the time display on phones registered to a new CM
4.1(3) server.

I have the CallManager server configured for NTP and it currently has the
correct time.

The phones are configured with the CMLocal time group but they display the
time incorrectly.

It is 1 hour ahead on the phones.

When the phone registered, doesn't just take the current time for the
callmanager server?
