[cisco-voip] 2851 and 12 T1s voice clocking

Using a NM-HDV seperates the DSPs from the motherboard DSPs. Short story
is the PVDM2s on the motherboard can only clock to single PLL. Data
doesn't care, but voice is another story. You would need either
separate ISRs or use multiple NM-HDVs with multiple voice pris with
different clock sources (ld versus local).

The only time you will get a clocking source problem is if you have
multiple T1s connecting to a router from different destination switches.
For example, you have a frame-relay T1 and a PRI...
You have to identify to the router which WIC is going to be the master
clock. In which case you will see slips on the other T1.
I do not believe there is any work-around. It is possible (though
unlikely) that there are some Cisco routers that can have multiple clock
sources...

What do you do if you have multiple potential clocking sources?
It is
likely at a site that you can have connections to Local and Long
Distance service providers as well as to a PBX.

Biggest problem is going to be that the 2851 can only have one
clocking
source. So if all 12 terminate to the same CO switch you are
fine
otherwise you will have timeing issues.

Any issue with terminating 12 T1s into a 2851? I have a mixture
of PRI
and
T1 CAS. 6 2MFT-T1 cards. Does this router have the horsepower?
