[cisco-voip] Unity Message limit warnings

Alex,

It sounds like your savvy on the MS Exchange side and how Outlook operates.
It seems to me that this may be perceived as something strictly related to
Outlook, but since UM ties your VM to the same profile outlook uses within
Exchange this will play. One option is to rewrite the audio file that plays
when a mailbox is over its size limit. This is "not" a Cisco recommended
practice just a suggestion as to a one-off workaround for your situation;
possible a blank wav file.

Good Luck

Fred,

I appreciate the input. Testing with this user is not ideal (corner office
politics) as he is my boss' boss.

I want our users to get mailbox size warnings ONLY from Outlook, not from
Cisco voicemail. Quite frankly, I'm surprised Unity doesn't have an option
to say "don't warn users upon checking voicemail".

That point is moot though as it still doesn't answer the original question:
Why would this user get over mailbox warnings when his mailbox is NOT over
the warning limit in AD?

User's storage limits in ADUC are set to: "Use Mailbox Store Defaults"

Exchange System Manager Mailbox Store Defaults:

            Warning (KB): 1500000

            Prohibit Send (KB): 2000000

            Prohibit Send/Receive (KB): <blank>

I just ran a report on this user (in Unity) and his mailbox is: 1322.82MB =
1354567.68KB

That is below 1500000KB, so why would he get a warning message from Unity?

mailboxusedefaultlimit should be set to "1" if the correspond setting in AD,
Use Mailbox Store Defaults, is checked. (You can find under ADUC, click on
the user, go to Exchange General tab and click the Storage Limits button)

If these are out of sync (suspect they may be), I would *not* recommend
changing directly in SQL. Rather, I would toggle the state the checkbox
from within ADUC, turn it off, set some values, see if they eventually sync
to SQL (which generally happens quickly, but can be up to 15 minutes or
maybe more depending on your AD infrastructure). If this works, try turning
the checkbox back on and see if you get a "1" for the affected user.

Let me know how it turns out, I'm quite curious now.

I have not made any custom changes to mailbox thresholds.

I opened the tables in the SQL Database:

mailboxwarninglimit, mailboxsendlimit and mailboxsendrecievelimit are set to
<NULL>

*this is true for all users*

mailboxusedefaultlimit is set to "1" for most users

*there are 4 users who mailboxusedefaultlimit is set to "0"

I wonder if setting the mailboxusedefaultlimit to "0" would fix it?

I think you may have made a Netpro post on this subject today also? Similar
question there, below was my reply:

>And just to be sure the question is asked, you have not set lower mailbox
thresholds specifically on his account, correct?

>Also, if you are handy in SQL, might be interesting to see what the values
of the mailboxusedefaultlimits,

>mailboxwarninglimit, mailboxsendlimit and mailboxsendreceivelimit columns
reflect in the Subscriber table for this user.

>This information is supposed to by sync'd directly from AD and is usually
quite right, very rarely out of sync in my

>experience.

FYI,

I know the limit comes from the Exchange server limit. This user's mailbox
is UNDER the warning limit, but he continues to get warnings EVERY time he
checks his voicemail.

Following up on a previous question that Carlos Ortiz had on 9/12:

I have the same question.

Is there any way to turn off the message limit warnings in Unity when a
user is nearing their limit and logs on to their phone to hear messages?
I would rather leave this task to Exchange which already does a good job
of informing the users.
