[cisco-voip] using a 3640 with FXS/FXO ports

1. 12.4T doesn't run on 3640 routers. The 12.4 train is the last release you can use.

2. If you want to run CME, the last version that runs on a 3640 is CME 3.3. To run CME you need a specifically compatible version of IOS. For CME 3.3 I run IOS Version 12.3(14)T3, image "c3640-is-mz.123-14.T3.bin".

3. While I use a 3640 and run CME 3.3 I can say that it barely fits on a 3640 given the flash and memory limitations. Also, CME 3.3 has bugs.

4. There are lots or versions or cards that have FXO and FXS ports. Some have more capabilities and voice quality than others. The newer cards are better.

Best,

leb

I basically want to be able to register this router with CallManager and then test faxing out the FXS ports. If I can do some fancy stuff with the FXO ports then that would be fun too.
