There is often some amount of delay inherent in the IP Telephony system.
You don't normally notice it on a phone call, but when you can hear both
ends of the call it is apparent. Also, we have seen extra delay
introduced when using Valcom 9970 paging adapters. These redigitize the
audio before sending it to the speakers, introducing additional delay.

I have a customer using a Valcom Paging system connected to an ATA186.
This system used to be connected to a Nortel switch. Since the
conversion, the person that is speaking experiences a couple of seconds
delay from the time she speaks until it is heard over the speakers. This
is an annoying problem to the receptionist. Has anyone seen this before?
