Edwin,
Are your servers members of a windows domain?
CSCsb02046 BARS may not work when servers are members of a windows
domain
Otherwise, need to verify component services is working properly on
your CER server. start/programs/administrative tools/component
services. Is there a BARS component listed under "My Computer"?

I am having trouble having BARS 4.0.10 and 4.0.11 backup my CER
database. Here's some background:
OS versions: CCM 4.2.sr11 and CER 4.2sr11
software verisions: CCM 4.1(3)sr1 and CER 1.3(1a)
I am using the same version of BARS 4.0.11 on both, I had 4.0.9 on
before and it had stopped working so I decided to reinstall the latest.
I installed BARS on my CCM publisher as a backup server and setup
this server as a local data source. It is backing up the CCM database
and CDR data fine. I installed BARS on the CER publisher as a backup
target, but when I try to add the CER as a data source from the CCM
backup server I get the error message "Could not find BARS installed
as a backup target on ..."
I have tried BARS version 4.0.10 and the same thing happens. I have
tried the install multiple times and made sure the BackAdmin password
is the same on both. I do get a message when installing the Backup
Target on the CER that the password does not match do I want to
continue anyway. But having done this several times I know the
passwords are the same. I even see a successful logon by my CCM
publisher in the Security log on the CER server. The install on the
CER server completes without a problem, but I notice that there is no
BARS service running. Is there supposed to be a service running on
the Backup Targets? I have tried to create the Data Source with AV
and CSA disabled on both servers still the same problem. Any help
would be appreciated.
