[cisco-voip] 7940s still don't have the right time

Ryan, Ok. So CCM does it's own DST adjustments regardless of the servers OS time and DST setting (3.x/4.x)? Only if the notice would have been more clear that the manual workaround had to be undone this morning or else (sometime after 4am on April 1st could be read many ways). At least we get a break until end of October.
Thanks, Erick

From what I can tell when we poll the OS for the time we also get
the time zone, and if DST has been applied. If the OS has not
applied DST but the CM thinks DST is active for a device, then CM
will apply it. There is no way that CM knows the server time is
actually correct, we just see that DST has not been applied and
adjust accordingly.

Where does CM get the time from to cause that if people disabled DST
checkbox and manually adjusted the time? Is there something in call
manager coded for the old DST if people didn't do patches?
The CCM DST notice saids it is necessary to undo the changes sometime
after 4am on April 1st , but doesn't state that it must be done the
morning of the 1st and what will happen if it is not reversed then.
Have had a few people reporting their stuff being a hour off who did
manual workaround and checking DST box and adjusting time fixed it.
The servers had the right time still before undoing it.

Remember anyone that did the manual workaround will need to un-do any
changes made now that the old DST date has come and gone. This
includes allowing the OS to automatically adjust for DST. If the OS
doesn't do it then CM will, which will get your phones an hour ahead
of the server time (assuming both are in the same time zone).

BTW, I reapplied the DST patches to the CCM servers and did a
clusterwide reboot and they are working now. I put a note on the rack
the servers are in and asked my people not to sneeze around them...
Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I had a similar problem and reapplied the DST patch and it fixed it.
The way the DST patch readme is worded it is like it needs to be
reapplied if you sneeze on the CallManager much less make any changes to
it.

I did. When I upgraded for DST, this is what I did:
- upgraded OS to 2000.4.2sr16
- upgraded CM to 4.2.3
- upgraded CM with 4.2.3sr1
- applied 4.2.3 DST patch
- updated my 7970 firmware to 8.2.1 (then later moved back to 8.0.4sr3as

Sounds like you need to apply the DST patch.

ARGH!
My Call Managers running CM 4.2.3sr1 have the right time. My 7970
phones have the right time. I have a few 7940s and none of them get the
correct time, all of them are 1 hour behind. I even updated their
firmware to 8.0.5, the latest. I thought the 7940/7960 phones got their
time from the CallManagers?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. Oh, and even more thanks to our government for
pushing this DST junk on us. Grrrrr.
