Have you considered using the * key as a prefix for speed dial translations?
Say, *01 for speed dial one, *99 for the 99th?

Subject: [cisco-voip] Cisco System Speed Dials
Anyone have a best practice for building/managing "system" speed dials?
I have a need to have a single "pool" of speed dial numbers and a rather large group of identical phones that all need to have the exact SD numbers.
The Cisco SD solution seems to require administration at each phone for this, which I would like to avoid because the numbers to change and there are a large number of stations.
I have a couple of ideas but would be interested in any creative ideas from anyone. This doesn't seem to be an approach from CCM. I cannot use AC, I need hard buttons with verbose descriptions on each of approximately 14 phones that need to be identical.
