The same on the 7912, you have to modify the Line Text Label to display the extension. That's the only way I found. The 7910s used to have the same problem, so they added a CallManager service parameter Extension Display on Cisco IP Phone Model 7910* that removed the external calling mask from the phone and displayed only the extension. Unfortunately, this does not help with the 7912s.
Interestingly enough, the 7911s do not have this problem. The DN is automatically lowered to the line below when an external calling mask is added to the DN configuration.

Subject: [cisco-voip] External Phone Number Mask
Hi!
I have a CCM 4.1.3 and several 7905G phones. For soem of the phones I'd
like to apply separate External Phone Number Masks, but now the mask
appears on the phone instead of it's DN. Is there a way to keep the DN
in the upper-right corner, instead of the external phone mask?
(I am using external phone masks on route patterns as well, but a few
phones need to have an external number that just doesn't fit that mask.)
thanks,
Zoltan
