Are you sure it's the USB adapter and not the application?

Subject: [cisco-voip] USB Serial Adapter for Console Port
I just sat here and spent the last couple of hours banging my head
against a wall trying to work out why I couldn't break the boot
sequence on a router to do a password reset when I finally discovered
that it was my USB serial adapter (Belkin F5U109). Apparently this
device is incapable of sending a break signal. As soon as I tried it
from a desktop with a real serial port it worked just fine. Does
anyone have a suggestion for a USB adapter that will work in this
situation.
Thanks,
Adam
