[cisco-voip] Customizing the directory menu on the 7970

First make sure your TAC SR gets attached to CSCsk99117.
Unfortunately there is no workaround for this other than downgrading
the phone to something lower than 8.3. There are two types of
directories shown when you hit the directories button on the phone.
The first type are those stored by the phone itself. These are the
Placed Calls, Received Calls, Missed Calls, and (now) Intercom
History. The second type are those added by the directoriesURL. The
Corporate Directory is the only one of these by default.
With the addition of the intercom history to the phone's "firmware"
directories this is why corporate directory got pushed down. We
(TAC) are trying to get some intelligence built into the phone so
that if it doesn't have any intercom lines configured it won't
display the intercom history but this is an ongoing project.
I believe there also may be something in the works to allow you to
reorder the directories but I may be wrong about that.

I recently upgraded the firmware on our 7970 phones due to an issue with
DST. Upon doing so, the directory menu changed with the addition of
"intercom history". Rather than logically adding this feature (that
we do
not use) to the end of menu it took the place of the corporate directory
and bumped it to the end to the dismay of our users. I thought the fix
would be a simple change to an XML file but I can't even find the
file. I
contacted TAC and was told editing the XML is not supported. I am
frustrated by these phone "improvements" that pop up each and every
time I
need to update firmware especially if the reason I am updating the
firmware
is driven by troubleshooting issue.
Any suggestions on modifying the directory?
Thanks,
