[cisco-voip] VG224 buzzing/humming on incoming calls only

I had the exact same issue, it was odd, a buttset worked but the fax
machine you heard hum, tried several versions of IOS before a IOS
downgrade fixed this issue. 

Summary;
Two VG224s on different floors, you can fax or call out, incoming you
hear a buzz on both fax machines and analog polycoms.  Cannot receive
faxes.  Using a Buttset you don't hear any problems. 

Resolution
Changed VG224 IOS from vg224-i6s-mz.124-15.T1.bin to
vg224-i6s-mz.124-9.T5.bin to vg224-i6s-mz.124-6.T8.bin (worked).

Contact TAC and ask them to read case 606774799, it went to the DSP
development manager, since the downgrade fixed the problem and it was
for executive floor at a bank I could not put the IOS back and help TAC
fix the problem.

Mine was SCCP, I want to say it did the same with H323. We did a pcm
capture and the capture showed the fax machine was making the hum, which
proved false.

Thanks to those that replied.

The device is grounded, and tip/ring are correct.

I have actually noticed something else with the problem which seems very
strange to me:

If someone tries to dial the VG224 extension (x600) and the analog
handset is physically connected to the VG224 port, the analog handset
rings, and when its answered, the calling party gets the buzzing/humming
noise, and the analog handset hears nothing.

BUT, if the analog handset is NOT connected to the vg224 when the call
attempted, and you then physically plug it in while the ring attempt is
being made, the analog handset starts ringing and the call can be
answered correctly and both parties can hear each other.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
