[cisco-voip] DSCP and Packeteer

Jason,

I have worked in an environment that was Packeteers everywhere.  There are
some caveats that you are going to need to be aware of but the short and
simple is that the Packeteer will need to handle the QoS for VoIP.  They
actually do an amazing job of it and are actually superior than cisco's QoS
that you can do with an ISR

When doing compression with a Packeteer it will do a very good job if you
give it full control.  The problem comes into play that the Packeteer when
it is doing compression will build a tunnel to the packeteer on the other
end.  Thus if you do QoS on the router AFTER the packeteer the router will
reorder packets.  When this happens if it is to drastic the packeteer will
reset the tunnel and you will take a major performance hit.  More or less
when you are using Packeteers the router simply turns into a media
converter.
