Thanks Wes, think this has fixed the problem. We were running 8-4-1ES6S on the phones which contained a fix for an audio bug on handsets where silence suppression was too aggressive. I tested going back to the original version 8-3-5S and the sidetone improved significantly. I have now tested 8-4-2 and this too seems to improve the sidetone.

Interesting,
take a look at these entries in cisco bug toolkit:
CSCsq77180, CSCso47340, CSCso92805
Odd to me that these all report too soft and you are reporting too loud. That said, you are using 62 while these are against 7960 and 7961. However, 7961 and 7962 are in same family so I would expect similar behavior.
Try loads before/after those mentioned above as there is a bit of perception involved here. Then open a TAC case, state your impression, phone model, phone load, and reference the above starting points.
Regards,
Wes

We are rollingout 7962 phones on a CUCM 6.1.2 cluster and have found that people with GN 9120 wireless headsets are gettting quite alot of sidetone. The headset has the dial set to B which should be the option to work with a Cisco phone and the base unity is connected into the headset jack on the phone. Is there any tweaks we can do on CUCM to reduce sidetone. Or any other suggestions?
We have also noticed that when the headset button on the phone is pressed the handset also seems to be active, i.e you can hear through both the headset and the handset, is this normal behaviour on a Cisco phone?
regards,
Wil
