When this parameter is set to True, Cisco Unified CallManager uses any configured translation patterns to convert voice mail extensions into directory numbers when turning on or off an MWI.

FYI - this is available in 4.1 as well. Nice to know.

To All: Changing the parameter worked.

MWI lamps work and we are successfully translating extensions between Unity and CCM

Thank you Ryan!!

It can work with translations but you have to set a service parameter to allow MWI calls to hit them. Check out the multi-tenant mwi parameter (Multiple Tenant MWI Modes in 6.1).

Unity is not multi-tenant capable until v7 (and I think that's just Unity connection).

I'm not sure how you can light an MWI on a phone that has the same DN as another phone. As far as I know, the way MWI works is that the ports sends a request to CallManager to dial the MWI extension on behalf of that phone. When I look at the traces, it's basically that extension dialing the MWI extension.

Not sure if this will work with translations.

Hello; My environment has overlapping extension ranges between sites. This is easy to manage in CCM but I am stumped with Unity.

I can use separate VM profiles to modify the extension when it goes to Unity but don’t seem to be able to get the MWI lamps to light on the phones. My thought was to use a translation pattern that would modify the extension back when attempting to light the MWI.

TAC was unable to resolve as well. Just wondering if it can even e done.

If not, any advice on managing the overlap in dial plans with Unity?
