[cisco-voip] FXO dial tone

I am going to ask two questions here:
1.  How do i search the mailing list to see if my question has already been
asked to keep from bothering everyone?

 2.  I have an FXO port on a 2851 gateway, MGCP, connected to a VALCOMM 4
zone paging system.  I have a route pattern 777.[1=4] (discard preDot) so
only the 1-4.  I have the FXO port active on the gateway and active in CCM (
4.1.3).  but when I put a butt set on the FXO pair from teh router I get a
dial tone...shouldnt' I only get dial tone from an FXS line?  FXO ports
should "accept dial tone from teh CO right?"  It is loopstart in Call
Manager,  I have no config on the voice-port on teh gateway.  Anyone want to
educate the rediculously stupid?
