[cisco-voip] 7940s and 60s - no EOL just yet

I was thinking that the 7942/7962 phones were the 3rd generation phones
so thanks for the info. I wonder if the 7941/7961 phones could use the
iBLC codec via a firmware upgrade at some point.

I was told no new features can be developed on 2nd generation due to
limitation, so buy 3rd generation.

I like the 3rd generation myself, and haven’t touched a fourth
generation phone yet, but iLBC codec holds great promise for bad wan
links.

Any comments on 3rd gen phones, is anyone using them instead of 2 gen?

There have been a couple of comments on the list re: 7940s and 60s and
EOL.

According to this:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/prod_eol_notices_list.html
they have not been EOL'ed just yet.

That being said, I'm not sure anyone would want to go out with a new
deployment using them, but they are still supported.

I'm pretty sure the second/third gen phones are the way to go.
