Have they tried using the blue rocker bar in the middle of the phone to re-select the call? Also, you can try disabling (if not already disabled):
Auto Line Select : When enabled, indicates that the phone will shift the call focus to incoming calls on all lines. When disabled, the phone will only shift the focus to incoming calls on the currently used line.
      This is a required field.
      Default: Disabled.

and then configuring their line to rna/rb to another line on their phone. The focus would remain on the line they are on. Or at least should.

But I can see where someone wouldn't like it.

You can also enable the simplified transfer which does not require pressing the transfer softkey twice. This, however, unfortunately, does not work with headsets.

From an engineer at a remote install -

We are having an issue at a new implementation with receptionist phones. The Call Manager is unable to present the transfer softkeys in sync with multiple calls coming in at about the same time. The softkeys change state to answer even if you are in the process of transferring calls.

When this happens there is of course no transfer key to complete the transfer. Getting back to the original call has been problematic. Calls and softkeys work great if presented as individual calls. Step up the call volume with multiple calls and the calls easily get lost as far as which call is responsible for the answer key that is no longer changing back to other soft functions. This is driving the users crazy. Hoped they would get used to it but after several weeks they are ready to get rid of the system and go back to Nortel 2616 sets.

When calls hit any appearing line, even though they are on the add-on mod that is programmed to flash only causes the softkeys to change to answer during trying to initiate the transfer function. The softkeys basically try to play catch up if you can. The phones just don't seem able to keep up with an active answering position role.

Any suggestions? I am seriously thinking of trying to deploy 7931's behind a CME solution. The 7931's are supposed to have a fixed transfer hard key.

  Thanks!
