[cisco-voip] CUCM 6.x and TAPS

We are just getting started switching from deploying CUCM 4.x to CUCM
6.x. We have two TAPS related questions.
First, as a Cisco VAR we have used TAPS for years to deploy phones for
new installs. The CUCM software compatibility matrix lists Extended
Services 4.5 as being supported for CUCM 6.x. Anyone know what this
means in reality? Is there ES media in the CUCM 6.x box? We understand
it has to run on a separate Windows server. We called Cisco PDI Help
Desk about this to see if the compatibility matrix was in error or if
there was media in the box and they drew a blank.
Second, our customers don't always opt for CUCCX/CRS. Therefore in the
CUCM 6.x world we have no practical means to support TAPS since ES is
Windows only. I would have to believe other VARs are facing the same
challenge. We are considering using temporary VMWare virtual servers
using either in a data center centric model or on laptops as a means to
fill the gap. Anyone out there have a better idea?
