[cisco-voip] Can You Retrieve A Message That You Send to A Public Distribution List?....or can you time it the same way that you can with a Broadcast Message......

I think Exchange uses a 'single instance' messaging which means a message
sent to a PDL stores a physical copy on each mailstore that has one or more
recipients in it. So, each user's INBOX will just get a 'pointer' to the
message and not a copy of the message.

Nope. Broadcast messages can do that because the message is never
technically in the user's mailbox, all of the management is done on the
Unity side. With a PDL, exchange drops a copy of the message in each
user's mailbox and exchange doesn't really have a practical way to
expire a message.

There are some tools from Microsoft (exmerge) that can be used to remove
a common message from groups of user's mailboxes, but it is pretty hard
core and not intended for day to day use.
