[cisco-voip] FW: Opinions and thoughts on running a Juniper coreVLANrouter/switch with a Cisco AVVID install on top of it?

Well... We have big customer that has IPT/IPCC install on the non Cisco
equipment. We had lots of network related problems but honestly third
party equipment wasn't properly configured. On the sites with Cisco
gears everything was fine.
TAC was very fair. When we report an IPCC/IPT issue they did look at the
logs and support the solution as long as they didn't relate issue with
network stability. As soon as they prove that issue is directly related
with the network, then they hand a case to us and tell us to fix the
network.
My point is that if you have non Cisco gears, you should hire a
consultant that is able to support non Cisco or mix vendor environment.
Personally, I am a Cisco guy :-), and I would prefer to have end-to-end
Cisco equipment because I am able to support that solution from the
beginning to the end.

So did this not make it to people, or does no one care to offer an
opinion?
;-)
thanks, tim

hi everyone-
The organization I work for is considering purchasing a new "core"
router for our network.
Currently we run all Cisco equipment and have a Cisco 4.1X AVVID install
- two CCM, one IPCC (non-Unity VM though)
The management wants to consider running a non-Cisco core VLAN router
(perhaps a Juniper), to be the VTP server for the rest of the Cisco
3560/3750 switches in the network
as it could be considerably cheaper than a Cat6500.
(My apologies in advance to the Cisco guys on here for discussing
non-Cisco switching/routing/VTP hardware)
But I would also value your thoughts as to how the TAC might approach
support calls on the CCM/IPCC equipment in the presence of a non-Cisco
foundation.
What do you guys hear/know about the idea of running a non-Cisco VTP
server talking to Cisco switches at the distribution later?
Considering that there's an AVVID installation running on top of it, I
figured I'd post that to here.
Thanks,
Tim
