[cisco-voip] PC/Telephone Headset Switch

I can add something Lelio. We have been using one of the Eutectics
handsets - the '520' which looks like a normal phone and has a handset
switch. It has drivers to integrate with most soft phones inc. IP
Communicator. Our experience was so bad I have taken them out of service.
Essentially Windows 2000 is not good. There is only one sound channel -
our users had constant crashes until we updated the sound driver (Dell
machines). XP is much better - have not tried Vista. Normal scenario is
that users arrive in the morning and boot their machines up. Every works
fine for an hour or two after which the handset switch stops working.
Later in the day the phone stops working altogether and the PC has to be
rebooted. One of the causes is that for some reason we could never
understand the Eutectics driver turns logging on by default so the more
someone uses the phone the more the log file builds up and the phone dies
by inches. I would strongly advice anyone not to go down the Eutectics
route. (We did have many communications with Eutectics on this before we
gave up.)
