Is the external server a database server or a text file dump?
What about the actual callmanager database, can you do SQL querries from the command line?

If you do alot of stuff with CDR records and are used to just hopping in and running queries from the MSSQL server, keep in mind you don't have direct database access on the 6.1 appliance. You can still get the CDRs easily by specifying an external server to put them on, and if you know how to work with the SOAP interface you can even run SQL commands, it just wont be the same as your used to. CAR is still there too, for what its worth. 4.3 i assume is till MSSQL just on win2k3.
6.1 has better database resiliency and resiliency for user facing features than any of the previous versions.

Whole new platform. it's running on a linux appliance platform. it has a backup partition for quick roll back of upgrades, it has added features not in the 4.x version. It's a whole new ball game but the basics are the same.

What is difference b/w CCM 4.2 and CCM 6.1 apart from SIP support. We are looking to some better options in CDR. Is it worth to go ahead with CCM 6.1? Do you have any comparison chart for these products.

Which means you will need to purchase another server to run the IPCC 5.0 application because it is not supported co-resident.

If the 7825 meets the following requirements, you should be fine,
2.0Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM and 72GB of HD.
You will need to upgrade to IPCC 5.0
