[cisco-voip] Resource bug - CSCsq66414 - 6.1(2.1000.13)

Why do you have to reboot to recover from this condition? Per the bug it
only happens when setting the software media resource near their max number
of streams and the problem is that when they register they can report 0
streams available. You should just be able to bounce IPVMSA to get the
resources to re-register, hopefully with the correct number of streams.

I'd hardly think media resources not being available qualifies as bringing
down your system, and it certainly shouldn't require a reboot to recover.
If it is causing something more serious (ie memory leak, resource leak, etc)
in the CCM service itself then you are hitting another bug (in addition to
this one).

Thanks for the suggestions. The only thing we didn't do is switch to MMOH,
but we did everything else. No go.

have you tried the workaround?

Workaround:

Do not set media devices to maximums for all of them and/or disable some of
the media devices.

What is unique about this configuration? Have you increased the stream
count for IPVMS? What about switching to MMOH to reduce MOH stream
requirements and adding DSPs to reduce software MTP and software confb load
on the IPVMS.

TAC told me that the ES coming out next week has the bug fix. I was told
there is no ES out right now for this bug. Our solution, at the moment, is
to reboot the UC nightly! TAC didn't have a better suggestion. It's kind of
embarrassing for us.

I had a customer who used Extension Mobility extensively have this issue. I
had another customer who had to disable CSA to keep their system working.
TAC recommended in both cases installing the latest ES for 6.1(2).

Has anyone else run into this? It's an 800 phone system w/ a sub and pub.
It's causing major customer sat issues.
