[cisco-voip] SFTP Server

As I mentioned in my previous message....take a stab at using Pumpkin, then download the file using TFTP to your desktop, edit it, then upload it using the browser upload function. Again, I'm not 100% sure on the browser upload function, but it should be there.

Minimally, you should be able to download it using Pumpkin, you might be able to upload it to (doubt it though).

And replying back.. I actually want to take a file from the server, ringlist.xml and then edit it so that I can add back in our custom rings. Problem I am having is that I cannot successfully get a SFTP piece of software to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am using CUCM 6.1 and am not sure where or what client to use to SFTP the file over so that I can modify it. From what I understand I need to modify the ringlist.xml and then upload it back to the server for the new ringtone to be selectable.

Thanks

Terry

replying to the list so others can benefit/chime in... ;)

I think in this case what you want to do is transfer a file from your PC to the server. You should be able to do this with the GUI. If you need to download a file first, you can use a TFTP client. I've used Pumpkin (http://kin.klever.net/pumpkin/).

The SFTP server I mention below is for transferring files off the server like backups and CDR, but also downloading patches, like .iso's.

I don't have CUCM 5/6/7, so I can't say for certain.

Lelio I would like to ask a question.

Where did you install freesshd? I am running CUCM6.1 and need to SFTP a file (ringlist.xml) but cannot seem to get a connection to anywhere. Somehow I am missing something.

Most of my admin work I do via the web interface to CUCM and I am not sure where or on what I should install the freesshd.

Thanks for your input.

thought I would follow up on this.

i've been accessing my SFTP server via RDP, as a result i don't see the FreeSSH icon in the systray, that's why I've had to stop the service, launch the gui, make changes, then start the service again.

i'm pretty sure that if i went to the console and launched the gui from there, i could make the changes without stopping/starting the service.

fresshd.com

same guys did this one. it works like a charm. it doesn't have as much configuration options for the home directories as freeftpd.com does, but it still works well. after you install it as a service, to make changes you have to stop the service, open up the gui, make the changes, exit the gui, start the service again.

i actually have both freesshd and freeftpd installed at the same time. i just made sure not to start the sftp server from freeftpd.

fyi - just ran across this in CM Hot Issues:

CSCsy72201 Bug Details
Need to remove FreeFTPd from recommended backup servers........... This program is not supported due to a 1 gig backup limitation that has not been addressed by FreeFTPd. Developers have confirmed that FreeFTPd is not supported. If it is not supported it should not be a recommendation to run it.

I have used FreeFTPd for a while with no problems but it looks like I need to find a new Windows 2003 SFTP solution.

Ubuntu works great. you may have to workaround CSCsv34475 or get a
version where it is fixed.
