Thank you Ryan.  We are at version 6.1.  I will try your suggestion and I like the idea of setting it up as an access code that others can use.

You didn't mention what version of CUCM you are running but in general  
you just need to set the calling/connected line presentation to  
Restricted on the route pattern.  To hit the route pattern you can use  
a copy of your existing one in a partition only these phones can reach  
or use an access code to allow any phone to set the CLID as restricted.

"Use Calling Party's External Phone Number Mask" and then in the  
calling party mask we have programmed the 10 digit area code; nxx; and  
4 XXXX's.  Works like a charm but now we want to be able to mask  
numbers programmed for Priviate Lines on specific sets so that all  
that shows is PRIVATE and no number display.  Because our PRI are  
programmed with a default number display which is the number of our  
Security Department, that is the number that displays  if we do not  
fill out the "External Phone Number Mask" on the DN Config.
